Understanding AI in the Public Sector
How to Build Confidence, Capability and Good Governance Around AI
Chaired by
Alan Rutter
This course is available for teams and organisations.
We’ll tailor it to your goals and deliver it online, at your offices, or wherever works best.
Overview
Artificial Intelligence is already reshaping how public services operate. With new opportunities come new challenges, including ethical considerations, accountability, skills gaps and organisational readiness. This course gives you a clear and practical introduction to what AI means for your work and how to approach it responsibly.
During this session, you will:
Build a clear, jargon free understanding of the current AI landscape and how it applies to the public sector
Explore real public sector use cases and understand what makes an AI project succeed or fail
Work through the ethical, legal and governance considerations that every public organisation must address
Learn about different types of AI, including machine learning and generative AI, and assess which options may fit your organisational goals
Take part in practical activities so you leave with confidence and not just theory
Create an initial action plan that helps you move from awareness to practical implementation
Why this course matters
AI is already being used across public services to improve efficiency, insight and service delivery. Without the right understanding and governance, the risks can outweigh the benefits. This course helps you build the confidence and clarity you need to guide conversations, support decision making and prepare your organisation for responsible use of AI.
Who should attend
Professionals working in public sector leadership, digital and data teams, governance, transformation, policy, service design or any role that needs to understand, plan for or oversee AI projects.
