  • Introduction to Emotional Intelligence

  • Delivery and review of self-esteem exercise

  • Recognise how to understand and manage ‘self’ before you can understand others

11:15 - 11:30 Coffee

11:30 - 12:00 Assertiveness

  • Assess the impact of different characters

  • Recognise how this affects your self-esteem

  • Use of assertiveness to prevent conflict escalation

  • Explore what assertiveness is and why it is important

12:00 - 13:00 Building Rapport

Looking at eye-contact, physicality and physical positioning in order to successfully build rapport

  • Group exercise

  • Demonstration of rapport building

  • Status – looking at three characters and explaining their physicality

13:00 - 14:00 Lunch

14:00 - 14:40 Listening Skills

  • What makes it easy/difficult to listen?

  • Explore the effect of listening skills on everyday tasks

  • Establish what the 3 levels of listening are and in what situations they will be used

14:40 - 15:15 Handling People in Difficult Situations

  • Discussion and written exercise

  • Explore how to resolve difficult situations

15:15 - 15:30 Coffee

15:30 - 16:00 Workshop: Action Planning

  • Delegates will put the day’s learning into action

16:00 - 16:15 Feedback, Evaluation and Close
