Willie Wight has very recently retired from the teaching profession after serving in Glasgow City Council for 41 years.
Willie was born up in Easterhouse, Glasgow. He studied Physical Education at Jordanhill College between 1973 and 1976 before completing the Scottish Qualification for Headship at Glasgow University between 2006-2008.
Willie retired as Head Teacher of Hillhead High School in January 2017 having served in this post for 8 years. Prior to this he held the post of Head of School at Castlemilk High, DHT at Hillpark Secondary, PT of Physical Education at Cathkin High and teacher of Physical Education at Trinity High School in Rutherglen.
Willie has a passion for education and leadership as well as being committed to Equity and Closing the Attainment Gap. His experience leaves him with the highest of expectations for young people and has worked with numerous staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for their pupils.
Willie is currently working with Education Scotland in relation to Curriculum Architecture and Flexible Pathways in the Senior Phase, one example of raising attainment and promoting equity in the Secondary Sector.
