Sue Southward

Lead Teacher, Comberton Village College, Cambridge Maths Hub

Sue has been a teacher of mathematics for many years. She has taught successfully in secondary and middle schools as a classroom teacher and head of department, and worked as a consultant in local government. She is currently teaching at a Cambridge comprehensive school, and working with the Cambridge Maths Hub, where she offers CPD to maths teachers.

Sue has run the popular “Forecasting the Trends” course several times now, aiming to make statistical analysis make sense to people who don’t have extensive mathematical training, and is now starting the “Basic Maths for Local Government”. Her approach is to stimulate discussion through activities and real examples, avoiding anxiety.

Sue has recently taken on the professional development side of the Mathematical Association.
