Simon Aston

E-Safety Officer, Northamptonshire County Council

Simon has worked as E-Safety Officer for Northamptonshire County Council for the past 2 years. Prior to this role he was a designated safeguarding officer in a number of settings including schools and colleges.

Simon is an expert speaker and trainer and he constantly supports local authorities, schools and other organisations to improve their policy around online safety, electronic communications and online information sharing.

A big part of his role involves working closely with Northamptonshire Police in order to deliver a consistent, strong and hard hitting message around online safety and information governance.

Simon specialises in information sharing and safeguarding issues. He provides parents and practitioners with practical tools and techniques to keep young people safe online. He is committed to inform local authorities and schools and set the best resources to use and were to go for support.

Simon is passionate about the impact the internet has on a young persons mental health and on the negative consequences that the excessive use of social media can create, such as anxiety and depression.

He works with young people around resilience building in order to provide the skills necessary to navigate online safely through the internet, especially social media.
