Reg Hooke

Independent Chair, Portsmouth LSCB and East Sussex LSCB

Reg spent 30 years as a police officer. From 2008 – 2013 he was Head of the Metropolitan Police Child Abuse Investigation Command with responsibility for the police child safeguarding function across London.

Since April 2013 Reg has worked independently in the Child Safeguarding field and is Independent Chair for Portsmouth LSCB and East Sussex LSCB.

Reg spent 30 years as a police officer. From 2008 – 2013 he was Head of the Metropolitan Police Child Abuse Investigation Command with responsibility for the police child safeguarding function across London.

Since April 2013 Reg has worked independently in the Child Safeguarding field and is Independent Chair for Portsmouth LSCB and East Sussex LSCB.

During 2014 both East Sussex LSCB and Portsmouth LSCB were judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted. The Portsmouth report comments on the impact of the new leadership in moving the LSCB to ‘Good’ and emphasises the progress in key areas such as Child Sexual exploitation.

Reg also delivers the child safeguarding Multi-Agency Critical Incident training (MACIE) for LSCBs, that was commended in the Munroe Review. He has conducted a number of Peer Reviews into LSCBs, police and Local Authorities on safeguarding arrangements including on CSE.

Reg sits on several national and academic advisory safeguarding bodies and is a trainer in child trafficking and online investigations for the UNDP.
