Peter joined BB7 following 30 years of service with the London Fire Brigade where he gained a wide range of experience, including fire safety engineering, operational command and fire investigation. Peter specialised in fire safety, qualifying as a fire engineer. He was responsible for the fire engineering approvals for major transport projects such as Heathrow Terminal 5, London Undergrounds step free station program, the major station redevelopments at Kings Cross and St Pancras, the East London Line upgrade and Crossrail.

The final part of his fire service career was spent working in Government as the fire safety expert for Sir Ken Knight, the Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser, giving professional advice on fire safety and firefighting to Ministers, civil servants and stakeholder groups. This included investigations into major fires such as the Lakanal House, and Shirley Towers fires. Peter was also responsible for the Crown Premises Inspection Team which enforces fire regulations and gives advice to government departments on fire safety in government buildings. Peter worked closely with the fire sector on fire risk management, including the Primary Authority Scheme and CFROA’s FSO enforcement protocol. Peter’s final part of his career was spent as Head of Fire Safety Policy in the London Fire Brigade.
