Nigel is the Head of Children’s Health and Justice at the Care Quality Commission, responsible for the inspection of health services for children and young people, and the inspection of health provision in the secure estate and criminal justice system.
Nigel has led on CQC’s contribution to the development of the local area SEND inspections, as well as the Joint targeted Area Inspection programme.
Nigel has worked extensively in the in the public sector, managing a range of local authority services, including child protection, looked after children services, children with disability services and fostering and adoption services. Nigel worked at the Department of Health, in the Social Services Inspectorate, monitoring and evaluating the performance of local authorities in the delivery of their social care responsibilities. He was the strategic and policy lead for children at the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
Nigel is chair of a voluntary sector Adoption panel, chair of School Governors, and a trustee of a Children’s Trust.
