Meena Kumari Wood has held senior management positions in schools and colleges in England, notably, Principal of a secondary academy and Principal of an Adult College. She worked as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors in Ofsted, UK for eleven years until 2013. During this time, she was seconded for one year to the DfE’s National Strategies as a Senior School Improvement Adviser. She has substantive experience of inspecting schools (Early Years, Primary and Secondary) sixth form /FE colleges and initial teacher training. Following Ofsted, she established Global Education and Learning Consultancy LTD, specialising in systems leadership, curriculum, pedagogy and assessment for learning. During this time, she worked with Multi-Academy Trusts, schools and local authorities on sustaining effective school improvement. She focused on raising achievement and quality of learning through class based pupil progress reviews and self-evaluative processes. Her international experience includes English teacher in France, teacher trainer in Malta and leadership training in India. Her publications include ‘Assessment of Prior Learning and Bilingual Learners’ ( Routledge 1995); Strategic Targets for Educational Progress and Success STEPS– (foreword) (Scholastic Publishing 2016). Meena completed a MBA (Distinction) in International Leadership and Management in Education (2012); with a specific focus on leadership of comparative education systems and learner attitudes.
