Maggie Bailey

CEO, The Every Child, Every Day Academy Trust
Headteacher , Grey Court School

Maggie Bailey is the CEO of The Every Child, Every Day Academy Trust, and Headteacher at Grey Court School.

As a National Leader of Education (NLE) with over 34 years’ experience as a teacher working in some of the most challenging schools to the more outstanding ones in London, she has a breadth of experience in education. Before taking up headship at Grey Court School, Maggie was Deputy Headteacher for sixteen years in three different schools.

Grey Court School had a succession of six Headteachers in six years and was in special measures. She led the school to ‘satisfactory’ in 2010 and in the years that followed, the school was credited as the fastest improving school in London. Subsequently, rated ‘outstanding’ in 2013; the school was ofsteded again in 2018 and retained the ‘outstanding’ judgement.

She has a relentless drive for continued improvement, challenging herself and instilling belief and self-confidence in her staff. She empowers them to experiment and achieve personal and professional success. Her infectious belief that ordinary teachers and people can achieve great things inspires those around her to reach their potential.  Maggie’s commitment to all young people never wavers, her belief in ‘quality first’ teaching stems from her philosophy that all students regardless of ability or background deserve the best, and nothing but the best is good enough.

She provides strong and determined leadership. Leading by example, both in the classroom, as an outstanding teacher and in leading the school with passion to make sure all students achieve their best, and all know she will not accept anything less than their very best.

Maggie has driven the development of the Grey Court Campus with the Sixth Form opening in September 2014, and the re-housing of the Strathmore Special School on the Grey Court Campus in January 2016.

In 2014, Maggie was appointed as Headteacher of the Hollyfield School, a position she held alongside her position at Grey Court. When she took the post, Hollyfield was rated as ‘requiring improvement’, but by 2016, when Ofsted visited again they were rated as ‘good’.

In 2016, Maggie was appointed to CEO of The Every Child, Every Day Academy Trust. The Trust currently consists of Grey Court and Hollyfield Schools. As part of her work she supports schools in a variety of contexts and phases to improve their overall effectiveness and thus the outcomes for their pupils. In addition, she is also the Chair of the Richmond Park Quindrat of local Primary and Secondary Schools.
