Dr Lydia Marshall is a Research Director in the Policy Research Centre at the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen). In 2016/17, Lydia managed the Department for Education (DfE)’s first nationally representative study of mental health provision in schools and colleges, which informed the development of the recent Green Paper. Following this, Lydia led a qualitative project for the DfE, collecting pen portraits of mental health practice in schools, colleges and other educational institutions. Lydia is Co-Investigator on an ESRC grant-funded project examining the influence of mental health on educational attainment in adolescence. Lydia has a PhD in the Sociology of education from the University of Warwick.
