Fiona McClement

Fiona McClement, Acting Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, University College London

Fiona is Acting Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at University College London. She has been at UCL for 8 years and during this time, UCL has become the only University in the UK to gain both a Bronze Race Equality Charter and institutional-level Silver Athena SWAN award (for gender equality.)

Fiona has been leading a pioneering initiative called ‘Where do you draw the line?’ Designed in collaboration with the Universities of Cambridge, Oxford and Manchester, these workshops offer teams the opportunity to undertake a collective analysis of the individual and contextual factors that might create a work environment in which harassment occurs. The workshops empower participants to collaboratively address this. After the initial session, a number of follow-up activities aim to maximise the power of peer influence to reinforce positive behaviours.

Prior to working at UCL, Fiona was a Policy Development Officer at the Centre for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) in Scotland and a Parliamentary Researcher on social justice issues both at the Scottish Parliament and Australian Parliament. Fiona also spent 2 years working for a community-controlled Indigenous education organisation in Australia.
