Elizabeth Duff took the role of Senior Policy Adviser at NCT in 2009 having been a representative for the charity since her own children were born in the late 1980s. She worked on the staff of the Royal College of Midwives journal from 1988 to 1997, latterly as editor. She then held the post of Communications Manager at the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM).
Elizabeth has spoken at numerous national and international maternity conferences, and also led seminars for midwifery students at Kings College London. She has written extensively on matters relating to pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood.
As Senior Policy Adviser, Elizabeth is a voice for the charity on behalf of new and expectant parents and often speaks on TV and radio, in press reports and interviews as well as contributing to government and other reviews and consultations. In 2015 she was invited to become a member of the National Maternity Review in England on behalf of NCT, and chaired one of the Review’s workstreams. Currently she assists in driving implementation of the ‘Better Births’ recommendations through membership of the Maternity Transformation Stakeholder Council.
