Dr Susan Burnett

Patient Safety Researcher, Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality (CPSSQ), Imperial College London

Dr Susan Burnett is a patient safety researcher at the Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality (CPSSQ) at Imperial College London.

Her recent research includes an investigation into the impact of mortality alerts in hospitals; and an evaluation of a board development programme using the findings from the EU funded QUASER research conducted in 5 European countries.

Previous work has included a report for the Clinical Human Factors Group examining the root causes of ‘Never Events’; work on the role of the Board and senior leaders in patient safety; and an analysis of reliability of healthcare systems.

Susan has worked in the health sector for over 25 years in senior policy and management roles, including as a director on the board of the NPSA. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and President Elect of the Patient Safety Section.
