Dr Ruth Caleb has over three decades’ experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist in a wide variety of fields including pregnancy and fertility counselling, National Aids Helpline, ChildLine, and private practice. However, for the last 25 years, she has been devoted to university counselling and has been Head of Counselling at Brunel University London for the past seventeen years.
Since achieving her Doctorate in Psychotherapy, Ruth has contributed to national knowledge and dialogue on mental wellbeing. She is Chair of the Mental Wellbeing in Higher Education (MWBHE) Working Group, which is supported by Universities UK / GuildHE. She was Chair of BACP Universities and Colleges (a BACP Expert Division) between 2008 until 2010 and was on the BACP UC executive for 7 years.
Ruth is frequently consulted about mental health and wellbeing in organisations, has contributed to media articles and television discussions, and written journal articles and book chapters on the subject of student mental health and wellbeing. She is currently co-editing a book on student mental wellbeing.
