Parul has been practising as Consultant at Northampton General Hospital since 2004. He has established himself as a Consultant Physician in integrated medicine with special interest in falls and syncope in older people. He also leads and manages a Tilt table service for the trust. Parul currently co-chairs the Falls Prevention Steering Group for inpatient falls prevention and lead the service for Elderly medicine at NGH. As a lead clinician for falls, he oversees development of orthogeriatric services as well as community falls services. As part of quality improvement activity he reviews all serious incidents which are related to falls at our trust and produce a report for risk management as well as for clinical governance board and ensure a robust action plan.
Alongside the above mentioned busy clinical and managerial commitment, Parul enjoys teaching undergraduate students as well as junior doctors. He has continued his professional development as a teacher throughout his consultant appointment. He has achieved the status of Associate Fellow of Higher Education Academy in 2013.
Parul has inpatients on one acute care for elderly ward and one rehabilitation ward.
He carries out outpatient clinics where he regularly involve students from medicine as well as allied health professionals at Falls and Syncope Clinic, Multidisciplinary Falls Clinic and Tilt table sessions.
Over last 13 years, Parul has supervised many juniors to carry out QI projects which have been presented at National and International Safety conferences on the subject of reducing falls in elderly and reducing harm from falls in Elderly in inpatient setting. He is keen to raise the awareness of the importance of thorough investigations for this group of patients to reduce the morbidity and mortality.
