Adi Cooper is the Care and Health Improvement Advisor for London for the Local Government Association, and lead on adult safeguarding. She is the Independent Chair of the City and Hackney Safeguarding Adults Board, and the Haringey Safeguarding Adults Board. She is also co-Chair of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) Safeguarding Adults Policy Network, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Central Bedfordshire.
Adi was the Strategic Director of Adult Social Services, Housing and Health in the London Borough of Sutton for 9 years. She is a qualified social worker, social work manager and professional leader in adult social care for over 20 years and has worked in several London Boroughs, in performance, health improvement, adult social services and commissioning. She has contributed to national policy development, service improvement and Care Act guidance in adult safeguarding, for example developing and promoting the Making Safeguarding Personal programme.
She now works independently in a range of part-time roles, as a consultant on adult safeguarding and adult social care, and as a coach.
