Dawn Baxendale has been the Chief Executive officer of Southampton City Council since 2013. Dawn served as the Director of Environment and Economy and has worked in Southampton City Council since 2009.
Southampton City Council has been shortlisted and won awards in recognition of their digital transformation programme aimed at delivering better digital services for residents and addressing the financial challenges faced by local authorities.
Working alongside external agencies, Southampton City Council used technology, customer insight and business intelligence to review and transform almost 200 customer end-to-end journeys.
Dawn has worked in various roles within local government throughout her career and has an excellent track record for providing leadership that delivers success. Originally From Huddersfield, she has had an impressive 20 year career in local government. Starting with a fast-track management scheme with the European Commission, in Brussels, she’s worked the length of the country from Doncaster and Wigan to the IOW, Portsmouth and Havant.
