Clare Collins

Head of Consultancy, National Governance Association

Clare leads and manages the National Governance Association’s (NGA) consultancy service. NGA’s team of consultants carry out external reviews of governance of multi academy trust boards, academy trusts and maintained school governing bodies, as well as offering bespoke training and other board development work.

Clare has over 20 years’ experience as a school governor, and has governed in primary and secondary schools, and in maintained schools and academies, many of which have been in challenging circumstances. She has also chaired her local authority schools forum, and sits on and chairs admission appeal panels. Clare was a trustee of NGA until 2012, and chaired the board from 2008 to 2011.

Clare currently chairs the local governing body of a primary school which is managed by one of the biggest multi academy trusts.
