Caroline El-Semman

Director, Little Jungle Nursery

Caroline El-Semman is the co-director and founder of Little Jungle nursery, a privately owned, ‘outstanding’ early years setting, based in Peckham.

Little Jungle follow an enquiry based learning approach and philosophy, aiming to develop children into the respectful, creative and free-thinking adults of the future. She believes such a pedagogy is possible to implement and develop in any setting, as long as the adults truly respect the equal status and rights children have and as long as they believe in children’s capabilities. Adults must develop a listening pedagogy which can become “not only a pedagogy for school, but an attitude for life” (Carlina Rinaldi), so that we can begin to take responsibility for the shaping of society.
