Alison has been the principal of The Ebbsfleet Academy for over five years. She has held numerous previous senior leadership positions across a number of schools.
Formerly Swan Valley Community School, the Ebbsfleet Academy under Alison’s leadership has had a well-reported journey in turning around its reputation as one of the country’s worst-performing schools.
Last summer 56% of pupils achieved the benchmark of five good GCSEs including English and maths, compared with 24% at the former school. Last term the academy received a positive Ofsted report and was judged “good” in all categories. Specific emphasis was placed on the strong leadership that has led to higher academic standards, better behaviour and increased attendance.
Alison was also one of 10 “behaviour experts” requested to attend a meeting with then education minister Nick Gibb as he attempted to drive up classroom standards.
